This course is for anyone with an interest in psychology and human behaviour. You will examine criminal behaviour through a psychological lens, looking at the theories, research, and real-world applications that help us understand why people act as they do.

What Will I Study?

Through fascinating case studies and class discussions, we'll consider topics such as:

  • Fundamental psychological theories behind criminal behaviour 
  • The role personality and emotion play in influencing behaviour 
  • The nature versus nurture debate and what research tells us about developmental factors
  • The relationship between mental health, personality disorders and offending behaviour 
  • How social and environmental psychology contribute to our understanding of crime
  • The psychology of different offender types and what distinguishes them

Entry Requirements

None! This is a leisure course, so it's all about exploration and discussion rather than exams and essays. You don't need any background in psychology – just bring your curiosity and be ready to think about some genuinely intriguing questions about why people do what they do.
