Got fabric tucked away that you can’t quite throw out? This course is all about giving those forgotten textiles a second life - while enjoying good company, conversation and creativity along the way.
The Recycle Revolution is a friendly, relaxed sewing course designed for people who want to craft, chat, and unwind in a warm and sociable environment. Working as part of a supportive group, you’ll explore how unwanted or well-loved fabrics can be transformed into beautiful, practical homewares. There’s no pressure and no perfection required. Just a shared love of making, experimenting and having fun.
What Will I Study?
Over 6 weeks, you’ll work on a series of creative projects, such as sewing & decorating napkins, designing and making a decorative cushion and creating a drum lampshade.
All projects use recycled fabrics, which you’ll personalise with embellishments such as ribbon, ricrac, sequins, buttons, appliqué, or pompoms—making each piece truly your own.
Entry Requirements
This course is suitable for complete beginners or for those with sewing or embroidery skills.
Materials
Please bring along any recycled fabric you can’t bear to part with. This could be old clothing, fabrics you have acquired from charity shops, boot sales or jumble sales. You can bring anything, including old duvets, pillow cases, tablecloths, cotton shirts, trousers or skirts. Your tutor will be able to advise about suitable fabrics and any other materials, during the first session.
Progression
Subject to demand, further recycled-fabric courses may be offered. You may also wish to continue your creative journey by enrolling in one of our other sewing or textiles courses.
