This AI Essentials workshop is designed as an introduction to artificial intelligence for everyday use. It aims to demystify AI, explain what it is (and what it isn’t) and show how AI tools can support work, study and personal tasks. The session is practical, discussion-based, and suitable for beginners who are curious about how AI fits into modern life.
You will explore the basics of AI and popular AI platforms, including examples of how they are used in real-world situations. The course will cover practical benefits such as saving time, improving writing, organising ideas and supporting job applications. You will also discuss limitations, ethical considerations, data privacy, and when not to rely on AI. Hands-on activities may include improving a CV, drafting a covering letter, or refining written content using AI tools.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. All you need is an interest in learning more about AI and a willingness to explore new digital tools.
Please bring a pen and paper for taking notes. A laptop or tablet is useful for trying out AI tools during the session, but it is not essential as computers will be provided.
After completing this workshop, learners may wish to progress to other IT or digital skills courses.
