Overview

Tired of never finding jeans that fit just right? Join our Jeans from Scratch four-day sewing course and create a custom-fit pair of jeans tailored to your body and style. This course is perfect for anyone who’s struggled to find jeans that truly fit—or simply wants the satisfaction of sewing a wardrobe staple that looks and feels amazing. Walk away with new skills, increased confidence, and your dream pair of jeans!

Designed for those with some machine sewing experience, this in-depth workshop takes you step-by-step through the process of making professional-quality denim jeans from scratch. If you have no experience of using a sewing machine, we strongly recommend you complete one of our short ‘Getting to know a Sewing Machine’ workshops prior to enrolling. These are run throughout the year.

What Will I Study?

Throughout the course, you’ll learn how to measure accurately, choose the right denim and hardware, adjust commercial patterns for fit, and master construction techniques such as topstitching, inserting fly zips, setting rivets, and creating durable, stylish seams.

With expert guidance and plenty of individual support, you’ll leave with a pair of jeans that fit and flatter—made entirely by you.

You will learn:

  • How to take accurate measurements and assess fit
  • Adjusting and customising a jeans pattern to suit your shape
  • Working with denim and specialist tools
  • Techniques for fly fronts, waistbands, pockets, and professional finishes
  • Tips for using topstitching thread and inserting rivets and hardware

Entry Requirements

You should be comfortable with the basics of using a sewing machine. If you do not have any experience, you may consider enrolling onto one of our ‘Getting to know a Sewing Machine’ workshops, which we run throughout the year.

If you have any queries regarding your suitability for your chosen course, please get in touch so that you can discuss with the tutor prior to enrolling.
