Overview

On this 1.5 day weekend workshop you will recreate the aesthetics of the ocean, using mesmerising pouring techniques to make life-like beach scenes. Chances are you have seen this wonderful look before and wondered how it was done. This course is your opportunity to learn to create your own stunning ocean art!

What Will I Study?

Participants will be introduced to the properties of resin and how to handle it and work with it safely. You will be shown how to mix, colour and pour resin, avoiding common mistakes to ensure a perfect finish.

Your tutor will demonstrate techniques for creating sandy shores and show you how to use different pigments and dyes to achieve realistic water and waves in your piece. You may also be able to incorporate natural elements, such as pebbles and shells.

By the end of the course, you will have the knowledge and skills to create stunning and unique beach scenes to showcase or gift.

Entry Requirements

None - this course is suitable for all.

Materials

Most materials for this course are included in the course fee, including resin, dyes and pigments. Please bring an apron and wear old clothing.

Disposable respirators/masks, gloves and protective equipment will be provided for the workshop. You may wish to purchase your own respirator, particularly if you are intending to continue working with resin from home or enrolling onto further resin workshops.

We will have a small stock of basic moulds, such as coasters, trinket trays and jewellery moulds, which you are very welcome to use. If there is something in particular you would like to make, we recommend that you bring your own mould, but this is entirely optional. Moulds can be purchased fairly cheaply online and purchasing your own will ensure that you can create in a style of your own choosing on the day.

Progression

You could enrol onto one of our other resin or jesmonite (eco-resin) courses.
