Overview

This course is for adults who have only completed five years of French or similar and are keen to continue developing their confidence.

Homework is given on a weekly basis. To benefit most from the course, you will be encouraged to read the materials used during lessons and refer to the grammar and culture workbooks.

What Will I Study?

You will expand your vocabulary and grammar using all four language skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) on practical topics to enable you to communicate. You will develop the use of all possible tenses, and vocabulary for describing all situations.

We will cover a range of topics, which may include:

  • Talking about yourself – your family, hobbies, activities in the recent past & future plans
  • Continued learning of thematic vocabulary following DELF coursebooks
  • Discovering aspects of French culture as platforms for interesting group discussions
  • Studying film, TV, documentary, magazine and literature extracts

You will also be studying the grammar of the language. Some of the grammar points to be studied are:

  • Learning the pluperfect past and conditional tenses
  • Consolidating the subjunctive present tense
  • Continued revision of all tenses & other grammar points to support confidence in conversation
