This course is for adults who have already done at least five years of Italian and who have an intermediate knowledge of the language.
Homework is given on a weekly basis. To benefit most from the course, you will be encouraged to read the materials used during the lessons and refer to the course book and to links to web pages (videos, listening exercises, grammar exercises etc.).
What Will I Study?
You will:
expand your vocabulary and grammar on practical topics to enable you to communicate more fluently.
revise the Congiuntivo Presente and Condizionale Passato (and maybe some of the other tenses mentioned above if needed) and learn two new tenses (both within Indicativo and Congiuntivo).
learn how to talk about your opinions, beliefs, doubts, wishes.
improve your ability to talk about yourself and your family, hobbies, the weather, describing people, past experiences, memories, future plans etc.
Entry Requirements
You need to have intermediate knowledge of the language e.g. Italian Year 5 or equivalent.
You should be able to:
introduce yourself and talk about your day and your hobbies.
understand frequently used sentences/questions i.e. come ti chiami? come va? che tempo fa? che ore sono?
use Presente, Passato Prossimo and Imperfetto tenses in writing and verbally
use Futuro, Condizionale Presente and Condizionale Passato tenses in writing and verbally, use Congiuntivo Presente in writing and verbally.
Please note that Italian Year 6 classes may vary slightly in the level studied, as this can depend on the pace and skills of each individual cohort. To get a more detailed course outline of your preferred course please contact ahedlanguages@psc.ac.uk.
Materials
Please bring pen, paper and a folder. Text books will be discussed at the first session.
Progression
We offer a Semester 2 course in the summer term. It begins immediately after Semester 1 and is an integral part of the course, the exact length of which will be decided in the spring term. After completing this course students can progress to the next level of the language.
