Adult & Higher Education

This course is for adults who feel confident speaking Spanish and want to continue practicing it and expanding their knowledge of Spanish culture. To join at this level, you should have an advanced grasp of the language and a good knowledge of all tenses (Indicativo y Subjuntivo) and have studied the language for more than 7 years or equivalent.

We will be revising the harder grammatical points as well as some of the most used tenses, enabling you to improve all aspects of your Spanish. We may also read a novel, watch series or films.

Homework is given on a weekly basis. To benefit most from the course, you will be encouraged to read the materials used during lessons.

• You will increase your existing vocabulary and grammar using all four language skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) on practical topics to enable you to communicate 
• Advanced grammar and vocabulary, allowing you to maintain conversations on a variety of different topics
• You will improve your listening skills and the quality of your writing skills
• Spanish culture

To join at this level, you should be able to:

• understand newspaper/magazine articles/books
• give your opinion on current topics
• write about yourself using all necessary tenses

Please note that Spanish Advanced classes may vary slightly in the level studied, as this can depend on the pace and skills of each individual cohort.

Please bring a pen and paper and a folder. Textbooks will be discussed at the first session. 

We offer a Semester 2 that begins immediately after Semester 1 and is an integral part of the course, the exact length of which will be decided in the spring term.
