This course is for adults who have done some study of the language, 3 years or similar, who have a basic knowledge of Spanish and can cope with basic tourist conversations. You will expand your vocabulary and grammar using all four language skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) on practical topics to enable you to communicate.
We will listen to audio materials and practise pronunciation in class and will also spend some time developing your reading and writing skills.
Homework is given on a weekly basis. To benefit most from the course, you will be encouraged to read the materials used during lessons and refer to the course book.
What Will I Study?
Revision the Present and Preterite tenses, pronouns, some prepositions.
Talk about the past using the four Past Tenses and learn appropriate vocabulary.
Make comparisons, talking about transport and making plans for the future and holidays.
Talking about health, doctors, and everyday situations.
Entry Requirements
To join at this level, you should have a good knowledge of the present tense – regular, irregular and reflexive verbs. You should also be able to:
talk about yourself, your family, hobbies, likes, dislikes and ask questions.
write using the Present and the Pretérito Indefinido about yourself, your family.
describe people, cities, clothes, where you are, the weather; ask for directions, deal with hotels, shopping and restaurants.
be familiar with masculine/feminine nouns, and most pronouns.
Please note that Spanish Year 4 classes may vary slightly in the level studied, as this can depend on the pace and skills of each individual cohort.

Please bring a pen and paper and a folder. Textbook will be discussed at the first session.
Progression
We offer a Semester 2 course in the summer term. It begins immediately after Semester 1 and is an integral part of the course, the exact length of which will be decided in the spring term. After completing this course students can progress to the next level of the language.
