Overview

Throughout this course, your tutor will guide you through a range of explorative art techniques. Activities will be creative and meaningful with an aim to express, and explore self through a range of tools and processes.

The art of making can be calming, meditative and fun and can promote a sense of well being. The classes will encourage students to be attentive and present in your own reflections. It is important to note that this course is not a substitute for counselling or therapy, rather a relaxing and mindful way to explore and express creatively.

What Will I Study?

Each session will offer the opportunity to be creative using a range of tools and processes. The focus is to engage with the process and to gain something meaningful from the experience which may be different person to person. The course will cover methods such as:

  • Painting
  • Wire wrapping
  • Drawing
  • Textiles
  • Poetry
  • Meditation
  • Story telling

Entry Requirements

No previous experience is necessary in order to take this course. This course is suitable for students of all levels - from complete beginners upwards.

Materials

We recommend that you wear an old shirt or apron.

Please bring:

  • Drawing pencils and colour pencils
  • Acrylic paints, this can be a set (medium or large tubes) or individual colours of your preference.
  • You may find it useful to bring a sketchbook each week to keep notes and ideas. Some find it enjoyable to build up a creative journal that is personal to them but this is not essential.
