Overview

Scriptwriting for Stage and Screen is a course designed to equip aspiring writers with the skills and knowledge necessary to craft compelling narratives for both theatrical productions and screenplays. Sessions run once per month over a six-month period to allow participants to apply their learning to a personal script-writing project. 

Class dates are as follows: Saturday 13th September, Saturday 18th October, Saturday 15th November, Saturday 13th December,  Saturday 17th January, Saturday 21st February, Saturday 21st March. 

What Will I Study?

Throughout the duration of this course participants will be guided through the fundamentals of storytelling, character development, dialogue construction and plot structure, all tailored to the unique demands of stage and screen. Participants will be invited to share their work and will receive constructive feedback from the tutor and peers. There may be opportunities to ‘workshop’ pieces of script within the group to gain creative input from other participants and to help identify or solve potential problems.

By the end of the course, each participant will have created their own compelling script for stage or screen.  

Entry Requirements

There are no specific entry requirements, just an interest in scriptwriting and a willingness to contribute. This course is a designed as a continuation for those who have completed Script Writing for Stage and Screen: Year 1, however new students are also welcome to join. Students may choose to do as much or as little as they would like to between sessions, depending on their goals.

Materials

Please bring a pen and paper, or laptop. 

Progression

On completion, students may choose to find performance opportunities for their script, or to continue with refining their script-writing skills.
