Overview

This course is aimed at adult learners who wish to continue to further their ability to communicate confidently and effectively with native German speakers and who may want to access authentic texts in German. You will learn in a relaxed and informal environment. You should have studied the language for at least 6 years or equivalent (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages B1).

What Will I Study?

We will cover all four language skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing.

  • We will continue to grow your vocabulary, as we cover a range of topics to enable you to communicate. Topics will partly be determined by the textbook (which we will choose together at the start of the course) as well as the current season, current affairs, and of course topics you may want to cover.
  • There will also be some focus on grammar as we will be revising and consolidating grammatical concepts including tenses, cases, subordinate clauses, prepositions, the subjunctive and the passive voice.

Homework is given on a weekly basis. To benefit most from the course, you will be encouraged to re-read the materials used during lessons and refer to the course book.
