Overview

This course is for adults who have studied the language for several years before and can speak quite confidently on a range of topics. To join at this level, you should have three years of previous study, or equivalent.

Homework is given on a weekly basis. To benefit most from the course, you will be encouraged to read the materials used during lessons and refer to the course book.

What Will I Study?

You will expand your vocabulary and grammar (using all four language skills - speaking, listening, reading and writing) on practical topics to enable you to communicate. We will revise the present, past and future tenses.

You will learn to:

  • read short texts and complete relevant worksheets
  • write sentences and translate intermediate (B1) texts into Italian
  • listen to the tutor and a variety of audio materials
  • watch interesting videos which supplement the course book
  • speak in class, in pairs and in group discussions

Entry Requirements

To join at this level, you should be able to:

  • understand written texts that use the present, present perfect, imperfect, conditional and future tenses with some knowledge of the congiuntivo (ie present subjunctive).
  • read aloud fairly accurately.
  • talk about yourself confidently, express your opinions and engage in simple discussions in Italian about everyday events and situations.

Please note that Italian Year 4 classes may vary slightly in the level studied, as this can depend on the pace and skills of each individual cohort. To get a more detailed course outline of your preferred course please contact ahedlanguages@psc.ac.uk
