Course Content
The level 2/3 Diploma in Beauty Therapy is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills in:
How to provid lash and brow treatments
Removing hair using waxing techniques
Applying makeup
Manicures
Pedicures
Facial
Reception
To further enhance your skills you have the opportunity to choose optional units such as:
Tanning techniques
Instruct on Make Up Techniques
Threading
Sugaring
Eye Lash Lifting
Nail Art
Methods & Patterns of Assessment
Work will be set to improve your practical skills, knowledge and understanding. For practical elements, you will be observed by your assessor. All your work must be collected in a portfolio of evidence and cross-referenced to requirements listed in this record of assessment book.
Theory (exam): 50% Practical: 50%
Where Could It Take Me?
This qualification will qualify you for employment as a beauty therapist in a variety of contexts, including:
commercial beauty salons
destination and day spas
working independently/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings
Whilst this qualification's primary purpose is to prepare you for employment as a beauty therapist, you may choose to develop your skills further by undertaking qualifications at Level 4, including:
VTCT Level 4 Diploma in Permanent Hair Removal and Skin Rejuvenation
VTCT Level 4 Certificate in Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Treatments
VTCT Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Beauty Therapy
VTCT Level 4 Award in Skin Blemish Removal
VTCT Level 4 Award in Physiology for Advanced Beauty Therapy
VTCT Level 4 Diploma in Salon Management
Entry Requirements
The first year of this course is at VTCT Level 2. Therefore, the minimum entry requirements for this course are two GCSEs at grade 4 or above, preferably in Maths and English Language. You will need to study GCSE Maths and English alongside this qualification if these are not achieved at Grade 4 and above.
