Alan is the current Chair of the Christes Hospital School Foundation Winchester and became a Foundation governor in 2017. He is a member of the P&R Committee, Remuneration & Personnel Sub-committee. Prior to retirement Alan was a commercial property solicitor and partner in one of the larger local law firms. He and his wife have lived in Winchester for many years and their three daughters all attended the College. Alan himself attended Dauntsey’s School in Wiltshire whilst it was a Direct Grant School and which, like Peter Symonds, is one of the schools and colleges associated with The Mercers' Company.
