Student Support and Services
We have a pastoral system which values and encourages each individual and we place great emphasis on guiding each student personally and academically. Our comprehensive network of support lies behind the success of our students, whatever their learning goals. This takes many forms – such as lunchtime subject and study skills workshops – depending on individual need, and every student is assigned a personal tutor to provide guidance and support through their chosen programme of study. We hope that students will feel supported in their studies, make lots of new friends and will be known well by their teachers and a tutor. Please see the Serious about Support document.
We recognise that we play a key role in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our students. Where we have concerns about an individual's safety or wellbeing, we will do our best to help and support, but there might be situations where we may need to pass our concerns onto the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH). As students are below the age of 18 when they join us we have a particular duty to make sure they feel safe and are safe while in our care. The college also has a duty to have due regard to the need to prevent people from being radicalised and drawn into extremism, which is also treated as a safeguarding matter.
