Peter Symonds College, Winchester, celebrated the academic and personal achievements of the 2024 cohort at its recent Awards Evening and welcomed back alumni and content creator extraordinaire, Kat Molesworth, as guest speaker and co-host, 16 years after she left the College.

More than 70 students received awards for a range of merits, from academic excellence to participation in college life, contribution to the community and overcoming challenging personal circumstances.

Principal Sara Russell praised the efforts of students of 2022-2024 and the families, staff and wider communities who had supported them. She acknowledged the tremendous resilience and efforts made to triumph over the post-pandemic challenges to their learning.

Sara said: “This evening marks the close of one chapter and the start of another. Our students have yet again done us incredibly proud and risen to unexpected challenges.  One of the evening’s prevalent themes was the support our leavers showed their peers, both in and out of college. We hope we have equipped them with valuable life lessons needed to make their own path in the world beyond Peter Symonds. We are so proud of each and every one of our students and wish them all the very best.”

Kat shared with the audience tales from her own varied career journey which started out in pathology labs and will see her produce the International Women’s Podcast Festival which kicks off at the Royal Albert Hall, London, in October.  She talked about curiosity, failure, the importance of networking and making connections, and taking unexpected paths.

A Hampshire reside, Kat’s greatest passion is helping other unlock their potential and supporting them in realising it. She established The Creator Union in 2020 to represent digital creators who work and earn their money online, to campaign for fair working conditions and pay.

In attendance were students, their families, staff, award sponsors, college governors and VIPs associated with the College’s history and heritage.
