Peter Symonds College Careers department have fulfilledthe necessary criteria – for the fourth consecutive timesince 2008 - to retain their Investor in Careers Quality Award.

“We are extremely proud to offer our students, and their parents, an impartial and rounded careers programme delivered by qualified staff,” says Stephen Carville, Principal, “and equally delighted for the Careers team to have achieved national recognition, yet again, for their services to our students.”

“The department organise a varied programme of events throughout the year to ensure all students are aware of the options open to them once their studies here at sixth form are complete,” adds Head of Careers Debbie Mahoney. “We have a large Careers Team at the College who are really motivated and keen to ensure all students make informed decisions and move onto positive destinations.”

The careers annual cycle includes Peter Symonds largest event, the Progression Fair, which has been running for the last two years and has nearly 100 exhibitors. Other events include Careers Week, HE talks, a Gap Fair, as well as guest speakers from industry, universities and businesses – both local and national.

Students can drop into the department, during College hours, to use the wide range of facilities – to explore potential career avenues, book individual career advice sessions or check out job opportunities. Parents too are kept in the loop and invited to attend relevant talks about HE options, UCAS applications and university funding procedures and they are also welcome to come along to the various evening events run by the college.
