Pictured: Peter Symonds Netball 1st and 2nd Teams

On Wednesday 2nd November, Peter Symonds College took four Netball teams to compete in various different tournaments at Southampton Sports Centre. All teams playing various colleges, private schools and universities from across Hampshire.

The Netball 1st team (manager: Kim Skene), played in the U19 County Competitions. They won all of their games, putting them through to the semi-final and then on to the final where they comfortably beat Portsmouth Grammar School to go through to the Regional Round of the National Schools Competition. They will compete in this tournament in January 2017.

In the Open Competition, the Netball 2nd team (manager Barbara Mellish) and the Netball 3rd team (manager: Sam Jones) won all of their games until they came up against each other. After an extremely close and competitive match, the 2nd team came out on top, but only just, winning 9 – 8. The 2nd team went on to win the competition, with the 3rd team coming a close 2nd only losing to the other PSC team on the day.

The Netball 4th team (manager: Sam Jones) competed in the U16 – U21 Recreational Challenge Cup. After winning all of their games, they went on to scoop first place and the Challenge Cup.

Peter Symonds Sport and Activities Co-Ordinator, Sam Jones said: “Today was a fantastic achievement for PSC Netball, we have established ourselves as a force to be reckoned with in Hampshire. And for all four teams to come home with medals is something the players should be incredibly proud of.”
