Study at PSC

BTEC Law covers a broad range of legal topics with a focus on law making, the legal system, Criminal Law and Civil Law. You will learn to think like a lawyer and develop skills for problem solving and analysis.

Year 1

• Unit 1: Negligence and the Civil Courts (exam based)
• Law Making, Non-Fatal Offences & the Criminal Courts (coursework)

Year 2

• Criminal Law & Police Powers (exam based)
• Tort Law (coursework)

• Better suited to students who prefer a mixture of coursework and exams.
• There is an opportunity to take limited notes into each exam.
• Students can bank marks for the course across the whole 2 years.

There is a greater focus on professional skills making this well suited for progression to law-based apprenticeships or degrees such as Criminology or Criminal Justice. It is also possible to progress onto Law at university with BTEC Law.

In BTEC Law, college computers are provided in lessons for students to work on. Textbooks and revision guides are available to buy from most retailers, with copies in class for everyone. Most class resources are available online and we provide laptops and computers to use in lessons.
