This accessibility statement applies to www.psc.ac.uk. This website is run by Peter Symonds College. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website so we are working towards making our website as accessible as possible.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • You cannot modify the line height or spacing of text
  • You cannot skip to the main content when using a screen reader
  • Using keyboard navigation it is not always clear where the focus is on screen
  • Some older PDF documents may not be fully accessible to screen reader software
  • Live video streams do not have captions
  • Key information is available in written form wherever possible. However, this is not always possible – for example, our virtual tour.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • Some images do not have a text alternative, so people using a screen reader cannot access the information, This fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.1.1 (non-text content). We plan to add text alternatives for all images. As we publish new content we’ll make sure our use of images meets accessibility standards.
  • The accessibility of embedded video content is dependent on the standards reached by the third-party provider. Where possible we will make use of features such as subtitles to ensure our content is accessible. We are aware that not all of our videos have easily accessible captions or transcripts for D/deaf users. We are looking at ways to provide these in the future.

Disproportionate burden

  • If you are using a keyboard to navigate our website, it is not always obvious where the focus is straight away on non form pages. We will look to address this in the future as resolving this currently would be a disproportionate burden within the meaning of the accessibility regulations. On our online forms keyboard navigation meets the accessibility guidelines.
