Student Services is based in the Common Room on the first floor of the Paul Woodhouse Building. Staff are available from 8.15 till 4.45 to help students with their queries. We provide a wide range of services as well as being able to offer general guidance and help on many college matters.

General
We deal with a wide variety of general queries from students, staff and parents regarding, for example:
Transport
If you have particular queries relating to transport to and from college for students, please look at our Transport page. Please note that there is no car parking on campus unless a student has mobility issues confirmed by a consultant’s letter. Students parking without permission will have their cars clamped by college staff. Clamped cars will not be released until 6pm.
Welfare Issues
We advise students on a wide range of welfare issues including:-
Counselling
Student Services is home to the college Counselling Service which is BACP Accredited. Appointments can be made by students online, by phone or in person. They are then seen by one of our BACP Accredited counsellors in their suite at Wyke Lodge.
Student Union and Student Parliament
We are home to the college branch of the Student Union which meets each week. Students have the opportunity to stand for election to a variety of posts twice a year. Students may also stand for election to the college Student Parliament which meets each month. There they are able to represent the views of their Tutor Group. Students can also apply for the NUS Extra discount card online.
Volunteering
Student Services offers students support in finding and maintaining volunteer placements. We can offer advice regarding CRB checks and medical placements as well as more general advice and support.
Second Hand Bookshop
Our second-hand book shop provides an alternative to buying fully priced books in the college bookshop. We buy unwanted text books from students and sell them on for half price (or less, depending on condition.)
College Hoodies
These are available throughout the year in a variety of colours and sizes and may be personalised within reason. They currently cost £23.
Health and Wellbeing
We organise a variety of health campaigns each year, encouraging students to adopt and maintain a healthy lifestyle. In addition, Student Services is home to the college’s Sexual Health Clinic. We also offer chlamydia testing to students twice a year; run a C Card scheme (for condom distribution) and support the college LGBT group (for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students). We are well supported by an NHS Consultant and Nurses.
Guardians of the College Community
Student Services is home to the Guardians, who support staff in ensuring students safety and good behaviour during the day throughout the college campus.
Social Activities
We organise the college Summer Ball and the Summer Fun Day. We also support students with their charity fund raising events.
Chaplaincy
The Chaplaincy at Peter Symonds College offers support at a weekly drop-in for students of all faiths and none. Relaxation sessions are also available, run in conjunction with the college Counsellors.
