MUSIC AT PETER SYMONDS

Music imageThere are currently over 140 students studying Music and/or Music Technology A Level at Peter Symonds. There is a strong, experienced teaching team including several A Level examiners, and professional players of national repute. Music students receive free tuition on their main instrument or voice and have the opportunity to play in a variety of bands, orchestras and choirs.

Facilities include two recording studios and two IT suites, a recital room, practice rooms, classrooms, many instruments, and a Music Resource Centre housing an excellent collection of CDs, scores sheet music and books.

The department also runs the Hampshire Specialist Music Course. Students on this course receive additional coaching in chamber music and free tuition on both their first and second study instruments, plus a wide range of performance opportunities, preparing students for entry to competitive conservatoires and universities. Auditions for entry to this course take place in late January or early February.
