Young People from all over Hampshire visited AHED to take part in a Media Make-up/Special FX taster day, organised in collaboration with Hampshire Youth Justice. The event gave the participants a unique opportunity to explore the fascinating world of media make-up application, using a variety of innovative techniques. Participants were given demonstrations by tutors, before practising on each other to create realistic wounds and cuts.

The Level 3 Diploma in Fashion, Theatre and Media Make-Up Studies is a popular course at Peter Symonds College and can lead to a number of rewarding careers within the theatre and media industry, from creating theatrical looks to crafting special effects for films and television.

Alex Walsh from Hampshire Youth Justice said, “it was lovely to see all the young people engaging with each other and the tutors. They had a chance to do something they had never done before and a couple are planning on practicing at home – it was really positive!”
