COLLEGE STUDENTS RAISE MONEY FOR LOCAL CHARITY

BTEC Sport Fundraiser

BTEC Sport students from Peter Symonds College have managed to raise over £250 for local children’s cancer charity, the Joe Glover Trust. The students ran a variety of sports events including wheelchair basketball, footgolf, 11 a-side football match and sumo suit challenges and held a cake sale, raising £260 in just 50 minutes.

Jane Wilmshurst, Fundraising and Events Manager, from the Joe Glover Trust was presented with the cheque by the students and said, "I am really proud of you all for raising so much money in such a short space of time. The money you have raised will make a real difference in helping improve the lives of children suffering from cancer and their families. Thank you."

Katie Taylor, BTEC Sport teacher said, "The students complete this task as part of one of their assessments but I am always impressed by how passionate, and competitive, they are about raising money for this worthwhile charity. What they have done in just 50 minutes is fantastic."
