The Principal – Neil Hopkins
- Is the Chief Executive responsible to the corporation.
- Is responsible to the Governors for all aspects of running the College.
- Is responsible for the direction and management of the College and its curriculum via the Strategic Plan.
- Is responsible for boarding overall.
- Proposes, operates and evaluates whole College policy
- Appoints and leads staff.
- Is responsible for the management of budget and resources.
- Oversees Health and Safety.
- Builds links with the community.
- Is responsible for quality.
The Principal line manages:
Vice Principal, Assistant Principals and Quality Manager.
Vice Principal (Planning & Curriculum) – Stephen Carville
Is responsible to the Principal for:
- Strategic Planning
- College and Faculty plans.
- Teaching staff personnel issues including staff disciplinary and absence procedures.
- The planning and management of the curriculum including the timetable.
- Management of internal and external examinations.
- The deployment of staff and use of rooms.
- Appraisal, performance management, staff induction and mentoring.
- Budget responsibilities delegated by Principal: staffing, equipment and educational supplies
- Risk Management
- Overview of Adult Education and Training.
- Quality Improvement, in liaison with the Quality Manager.

The Vice Principal line manages:
IT Director for ILT, Head of Learning Resource Centre, Head of ACE Division, College Co-ordinator for Vocational Courses, Examinations Manager, Functional Skills Co-ordinator, Heads of Faculty for Curriculum and Quality matters, ILT Co-ordinator, Head of Extended Project.
Assistant Principal (Students) – Julia Tucker
Is responsible to the Principal for:
- The tutorial and guidance systems including the tutorial programme, action planning and progress reviews.
- Student welfare and Counselling.
- Boarding.
- Equal Opportunities.
- The admissions cycle, including enrolment and induction.
- External relations and publicity.
- Links with parents.
- Students with learning difficulties and disabilities.
- Maintaining standards and dealing with student in-discipline.
- Receiving and monitoring off-site activities forms.
- General Studies.
- Careers Education and Guidance.
- Day Duty
- Child Protection
The Assistant Principal (Students) line manages:
Head of Admissions, Head of Boarding, Head of Careers, Senior Faculty Administrator & EMA Co-ordinator, Oxbridge Tutor, Equal Opportunities Co-ordinator, Head of Public Relations, Head of Student Welfare, Head of Study Support, Head of General Studies, Heads of Faculty for pastoral matters.
The Assistant Principal (Bursar) – Paul Warren
Is responsible to the Principal for:
- The financial, personnel, premises and equipment administration and all non-teaching aspects of College life.
- Managing the team of administrative, technical and clerical support staff: IT, Personnel, MIS, Resources, Estates Management and Technicians, Student and Staff Services, Finance
- Health & Safety as College Health & Safety Officer.
- College boarding business administration.
- Operating personnel policies.
- The database of personnel information (Data Controller).
- Budget responsibilities delegated by the Principal: Administration, equipment repair and replacement, catering.
- Freedom of Information point of contact.
- Liaison with the Catering Contractor, control of catering contract.
The Assistant Principal (Bursar) line manages:
Finance Manager, IT Director, Management Information System Manager, Personnel Manager, Secretarial Support for Principalship, Reception, Faculty/Curriculum Support Staff, Estates Manager, Resources Manager.
