The following outlines the areas of responsibility of the members of the Senior Management Team:

The Principal – Neil Hopkins

  1. Is the Chief Executive responsible to the corporation.
  2. Is responsible to the Governors for all aspects of running the College.
  3. Is responsible for the direction and management of the College and its curriculum via the Strategic Plan.
  4. Is responsible for boarding overall.
  5. Proposes, operates and evaluates whole College policy
  6. Appoints and leads staff.
  7. Is responsible for the management of budget and resources.
  8. Oversees Health and Safety.
  9. Builds links with the community.
  10. Is responsible for quality.

The Principal line manages:
Vice Principal, Assistant Principals and Quality Manager.

Vice Principal (Planning & Curriculum) – Stephen Carville

Is responsible to the Principal for:

  1. Strategic Planning
  2. College and Faculty plans.
  3. Teaching staff personnel issues including staff disciplinary and absence procedures.
  4. The planning and management of the curriculum including the timetable.
  5. Management of internal and external examinations.
  6. The deployment of staff and use of rooms.
  7. Appraisal, performance management, staff induction and mentoring.
  8. Budget responsibilities delegated by Principal: staffing, equipment and educational supplies
  9. Risk Management
  10. Overview of Adult Education and Training.
  11. Quality Improvement, in liaison with the Quality Manager.
  12. Key Skills.
  13. Extended Project
  14. Learning Resource Centre
  15. ILT

The Vice Principal line manages:
IT Director for ILT, Head of Learning Resource Centre, Head of ACE Division, College Co-ordinator for Vocational Courses, Examinations Manager, Functional Skills Co-ordinator, Heads of Faculty for Curriculum and Quality matters, ILT Co-ordinator, Head of Extended Project.

Assistant Principal (Students) – Julia Tucker

Is responsible to the Principal for:

  1. The tutorial and guidance systems including the tutorial programme, action planning and progress reviews.
  2. Student welfare and Counselling.
  3. Boarding.
  4. Equal Opportunities.
  5. The admissions cycle, including enrolment and induction.
  6. External relations and publicity.
  7. Links with parents.
  8. Students with learning difficulties and disabilities.
  9. Maintaining standards and dealing with student in-discipline.
  10. Receiving and monitoring off-site activities forms.
  11. General Studies.
  12. Careers Education and Guidance.
  13. Day Duty
  14. Child Protection

The Assistant Principal (Students) line manages:
Head of Admissions, Head of Boarding, Head of Careers, Senior Faculty Administrator & EMA Co-ordinator, Oxbridge Tutor, Equal Opportunities Co-ordinator, Head of Public Relations, Head of Student Welfare, Head of Study Support, Head of General Studies, Heads of Faculty for pastoral matters.

The Assistant Principal (Bursar) – Paul Warren

Is responsible to the Principal for:

  1. The financial, personnel, premises and equipment administration and all non-teaching aspects of College life.
  2. Managing the team of administrative, technical and clerical support staff: IT, Personnel, MIS, Resources, Estates Management and Technicians, Student and Staff Services, Finance
  3. Health & Safety as College Health & Safety Officer.
  4. College boarding business administration.
  5. Operating personnel policies.
  6. The database of personnel information (Data Controller).
  7. Budget responsibilities delegated by the Principal: Administration, equipment repair and replacement, catering.
  8. Freedom of Information point of contact.
  9. Liaison with the Catering Contractor, control of catering contract.

The Assistant Principal (Bursar) line manages:
Finance Manager, IT Director, Management Information System Manager, Personnel Manager, Secretarial Support for Principalship, Reception, Faculty/Curriculum Support Staff, Estates Manager, Resources Manager.
